Happy Black History Month! Every day this month we will be celebrating our BAME LGBT+ heroes. Today, Stevie the Pride historian and coordinator of our BAME LGBT+ Forum has nominated Janelle Monáe, the American singer, songwriter, rapper, actress, and record producer. Monáe has said she identifies with both bisexuality and pansexuality. She describes her tuxedo wardrobe as being a uniform for her career, speaking of wanting to redefine how women dress. She says: “As someone who has pushed boundaries of gender since the beginning of my career. I feel my feminine energy, my masculine energy, and energy I can’t even explain.”

Stevie has chosen the video of the song “Tightrope” released in 2010, the first official single from the ArcAnachroid album, for you to watch. She says “I love it, it’s just so cool, the dancing is amazing, the costumes are wonderful. It makes me feel good every time I watch it. Enjoy!”
