Today’s #BlackHistoryMonth LGBT+ hero is writer James Baldwin, picked by writer James McDermott who tells us: he was a pioneer for black and gay rights and reading Giovanni’s Room at 18 years old made me feel seen, understood, less alone and showed me that gay lives could be the stuff of literature. The book also taught me the best life lesson: “love him and let him love you. Do you think anything else under heaven really matters?”
