Today’s Black History Month LGBT+ hero is Edward Enninful, chosen by Pride-goer Jess who writes…

Edward is best known for being the first black editor of British Vogue, and in fact any mainstream UK fashion magazine. He has not only revolutionised the face of British Vogue, but also behind the scenes in the industry. Hiring a diverse and inclusive range of models, photographers and editors, and featuring what he terms a ‘diversity of perspective’, encouraging the publication to reach new, and younger audiences. Ghanaian-born and London raised, he started his career as a model after being scouted on the London Underground. He went on to become the youngest editor of a major international fashion magazine, when he became fashion director at iD at the age of 18. Humble, ambitious and trail blazing, this is why Edward Enninful is my nomination for #blackhistorymonth LGBT+ hero.
