Silky Diane
Back to ShakeUp (Silky) Diane Eleanor Paige was born in 1971, trained as a musician and got her Doctorate in composition in 1999. She financed this by driving 38-tonne articulated lorries. No, seriously. She loves ancient mythology, fashion, archaeology, poledancing, clubs, writing fiction, kayaking, walking and socialising, but her passion is composing and in addition to symphonies, concertos and an opera about the downfall of western civilisation she has written all genres of songs at her trusty Yamaha keyboard. Her full act is titled “This ain't a drag” – she describes herself as the thinking man's t-crumpet, comprising food-for-thought, sexy parodies, haunting mystery songs and impersonating everyone from the Abba to the Gaga. Oh, and she often forgets words… but what's that when you often forget your gender?! Diane's Website contains links to her Youtube videos, has some parodies and a few other bits and bobs... the only way to hear her own songs however is to attend the Karaoke sessions at the Coach and Horses on Friday nights! |

Hannah Brackenberry
Back to ShakeUp Hannah Brackenbury has been described as "Brighton's answer to Victoria Wood" with her quirky songs and marvellous musical comedy. Born and brought up in Great Yarmouth, she studied music at Great Yarmouth College and Derby University before moving down to Brighton in 2009 to pursue her musical comedy career. She is now performing a one-woman show around London and the south coast and is promoting her album "Postcard from Brighton" which features the songs "The L Word" and "Car Boot Sale". She reached the quarter-finals of the Musical Comedy Awards 2010 and will also be competing in the Funny Women Awards 2010 later in the year. Hannah says: "It¹s wonderful to see Norwich Pride growing and developing as an event and I¹m really pleased to be performing at Shake Up this year. As a teenager growing up in Great Yarmouth there was very little awareness of gay issues that I can remember, and certainly no such thing as a Pride event in Norfolk! So it¹s really good to see Norwich Pride up and running and providing much-needed encouragement and support for the LGBT community across the county." www.brackers.co.uk Hannah Brackenberry on MySpace Hannah Brackenberry on YouTube |

Maddi Cassell
Back to ShakeUp Having organised and taken part in pride events in Sheffield and Brighton, it is exciting to be able to return to my home town and see it finally painted in rainbow colours. Maddi has played with Caledonian skiffle kings Dead Plants, undisputed kings of chap rock The Don Bradmans, played session for Sheffield ska extravaganza Bison and Bristol gypsy band Yuckknuckle and the Baskets. Maddi says "I've toured with Jamboree Circus as musical director, and busked the streets of Brighton with The Rusty Haloes. I've played violin and accordian with Sheffield Gypsy punk band Nazdrove!, as well as organising the phenomenal night of the same name, and desperately trying to look cool on the bass with girl punk band The Ejaculators. Last winter I spent some lovely times with the fantastic Monkey Wrenchers, Leeds based country/blues/roots band. I spent last summer playing accordian for a street show with Faceless Theatre company, and stage managing Faceless Co's gorgeous Conference of the Birds community arts project. I've also continued performing in cabaret shows across the country with two acts, the elegant La Belle Madelene, a 1930's musical comedy act, and Randy the Fastest Girl in the West, outrageous adult music and mayhem (not for the young or easily offended!). And now I've hooked up with the amazing Peoples Front Room. Phew, no wonder i'm knackered!" Maddi Cassell on MySpace Photo by Nick Howlett. |

Back to ShakeUp Sean wowed us all with his keyboard & vocals at last year's Pride. He also performed at the Norwich launch party for LGBT History Month in February. Sean has been recording/writing/performing for the past 5 years. He has had great opportunities from supporting Patrick Wolfe, Lucie Silvas and working alongside producer Yak Bondy for the majority of his work. He is currently recording a new EP which is best described as 'dark dance'. Sean is aims to tour more and more with songs old and new throughout his "mini world gig list" and also tour in the UK. Sean's debut album and first EP are scheduled for release digitally and in hard format from August 2010. Sean says "I cant wait to perform at shake up again. I thought last years event was a brilliant success and its a relaxed and fun evening of entertainment with a slight importance on the politics of the main event- which I think is essential and informative. I hope to put on a good set and add to everyones evening." www.seanseraphim.com Sean Seraphim on MySpace Sean Seraphim on YouTube |

Rabo de Foguete
Back to ShakeUp Rabo de Foguete started out as a project by the founder of the well-known Norwich Samba band. As it's members grew and solidified the music style changed from a traditional samba style inspired and taught from a close connection Monobloco, to a Samba-Funk fusion style and still experimenting all the time. It's members come from many different walks of life and ages ranges from 18-45. Now becoming a popular demand, the band is guaranteed to get you dancing. Singer Ben Cann says "It's a privilege to be involved in an event for pride. It's only recently that I've become part of the LGBT community through the local BLAH Youth Group, and this will be my first time at Pride and am very excited to contribute to give them a night they won't forget." |
