Thank you for coming to the Norwich Pride Press Page on our website. Norwich Pride is run by a collective of enthusiastic volunteers. The first Norwich Pride was in 2009 and we are looking forward to our third big day on Saturday 28th July 2012.
I say "big day" because Norwich Pride is about a lot more than just one day - it is about spreading our message of pride and unity throughout the year. We have a monthly film at Cinema City, called "Out at the Movies" and we fully support LGBT History Month in February. Norwich Pride also has a hand in many smaller groups and activities - such as the Pride Choir and Sew Gay. We have links to North Norfolk Pride and would like to support more events outside of the city and across Norfolk.
Saying this - the big day in July is always very special and we have welcomed up to 5,000 people to Norwich Pride. Things usually start at around 10am in the Forum where there are stalls and events, dance, performances outside. Around lunchtime things begin in Chapelfield Gardens where we organise a relaxed picnic with facepainting, games and acoustic music. The central feature of the day for many is the colourful and lively parade which takes happy crowds from Chapelfield Gardens to the Forum for the Pride Show. There are events across the city in many different venues over the evening and into the early hours.
Nearer the time we will produce a full timetable and listings and send out press releases. If you want to make sure you are kept "in the know" with priority information on our press contact list email lee@norwichpride.org.uk.
We are happy to organise interviews or photo opportunities at your convenience.
