Love Music Hate Racism and Homophobia

Love Music, Hate Racism and Homophobia Gig

In January 2010 we supported a Love Music, Hate Racism and Homophobia event at Take 5 which was linked to Holocaust Memorial Day. This event brought over 70 people together to dance and consider the ways we combat homophobia in our society and ensure that the electoral advances made by the BNP and the experience of seeing the English Defence League march in our towns and cities in 2009 can be challenged. The event discussed the need to prove that it is always important to remember the lessons of the past and make sure that the far right do not benefit from the economic crisis and the hard times we all face. The event's aaims was to prove that Norwich firmly rejects the politics of despair and embraces a legacy of hope. Last year also saw an unwelcome rise in homophobic attacks which culminated in the vigils across the country (and at the forum in Norwich) following the murder of Ian Baynham. The gig was aimed at spreading a non racist and homophopbic message.
